A personal note from the photographer: South Georgia Island is one of my favorite places on Earth. Its dramatic landscapes and epic concentrations of wildlife are like nowhere else. Before heading out to feed these king penguins massed and frolicked just off the shore beyond the crashing surf. It was early in the season, and they had not started laying and incubating their eggs yet.
