A personal note from the photographer: After a day of sitting quietly in the snow, waiting for this sleeping polar bear to wake up and walk towards me and down to the water's edge where she had been feeding earlier on a washed up whale carcass, she finally arose, and proceeded to walk the opposite direction from me and over the hill. In frustration I snapped a few frames and little did I know how magical that angle would indeed be.
