A personal note from the photographer: Australia Zoo is dedicated to international wildlife protection efforts. This is Scout, one of our beautiful Sumatran tigers who was born right here at our sanctuary. He is a part of our wonderfully successful breeding program, boosting the numbers of his kind. Sadly, there are less than 500 wild Sumatran tigers left due to habitat loss and demand from the wildlife product trade. Through breeding and a remarkable anti-poaching effort that we support on the ground in Sumatra, these cats are finally making a comeback. This is just one example of the many worldwide conservation initiatives that we support.
