This image was taken in Norwest Passage - Canada's High Arctic, 2023.

A personal note from the photographer: As we approached the North West Passage, you never quite know what awaits you, with regards to wildlife and weather. Sometime its sunny and belugas are swimming by, but my favourite days are when the stormy weather is in rolling in through the Passage. One can only image the explorers that were here before us in their wooden ships and of course The Inuit, Thule and Dorest people hundreds, even thousand of years that thrived here before that. This day was one I will not forget in a hurry, the moody skies and bitter cold rolling in from the passage, visibility was low, in fact when we arrived in was less than 100 metres. Due to the high possibility of bears close by (as they often come to land as the ice breaks up in the heavy wind) and to low vis, it seemed time to leave, I had an almost 6th sense telling me a bear was close by, then as the wind shifted and the air temperature dropped a few degrees, the visibility opened up and just in time for me to see this curious polar bear walking up the hill.
