A personal note from the photographer: As a polar landscape photographer, I intimately understand the detrimental impact of artificial light pollution on the beauty of the frozen world. During polar nights, when the sun doesn't rise, excessive urban illumination obscures the delicate dance of low light in cold regions like Lapland, Finland. This light interferes with capturing those petrified trees but also the spectacular auroras. Conservation efforts are vital to limit light pollution, preserving this natural wonder and safeguarding nocturnal ecosystems. After braving freezing temperatures and chasing the perfect light in Lapland for several seasons, I present a captivating portfolio showcasing the beauty of petrified trees.
