This image was taken in Canada's High Arctic, 2022.

A personal note from the photographer: A glimpse into the secret world of The Narwhal.  Mark captured this image in Canada's High Arctic after months of searching for them. It was taken on a remote island along the North West Passage, less than a 1000 miles from the North Pole. An amazing reward after months of searching and to top it off Mark witnessed some fascinating behaviour of the Narwhal hunting Arctic Char, using their tusks to 'slap' and stun the prey.

As with most Arctic wildlife, global warming and climate change is a real threat, as their environment is changing quicker than evolutionary adaptation takes place. Warming conditions also make for less ice in areas and channels, making it easier for predators such as killer whales  to reach them in regions that have historically been safe havens. Decisions big and small in our everyday lives have an impact, lets make it a positive one.
